So far, I am unimpressed. If you’re a follower of my blog you know that I am the unofficial spokesperson for gel eyeliner. It glides on beautifully, has no dry time, and has the flexibility to be as dramatic or a subtle as you desire. I love it.

I decided to try a liquid eyeliner for a reason I don’t exactly remember. I purchased Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Liquid Eyeliner for $21 and figured I would give it a try. Lauren Conrad uses it, so I can too! Right?

Let’s start with the fact that I am so used to wearing gel liner that I am not used to the drying time of a liquid. I mean, what do you do when you wait for it to dry? I am always in a rush in the mornings, no matter how early I wake up. I like having a sense of urgency to my routines. After applying I have to be very still and keep my eyes focused because when I look even the slightest bit to another direction, I end up with an awkward spot of black on my eyelids.

And maybe it’s just the way that I am accustomed to a brush, but this stuff is a bitch to apply (excuse my French). I have a generally steady hand, but on the occasion that I slip up I end up looking like Cleopatra. Then I have to wait for it to dry before I can even remove it or it will just spread all over the damn place. And then I have to start all over again.

Then there’s the fact that it doesn’t even bother to stay dry for the rest of the day. Sure, it’s not like having raccoon eyes, but I have that awkward “I didn’t dry yet!” black spot on my eyelids anytime I get a little overheated. Come on now, checking the mirror every time I start to sweat is no way to live.

And so, as I’m sure you can obviously tell, I am not a fan of liquid eyeliner. It leaves little to no room for error, requires focus and patience (who has that?!) and costs more than my beloved gel liners. 

I did purchase a drugstore brand, so I will try that out and see if it makes any difference. But for this week, I am in serious need of reverting back to my gel liner ways. There’s only so much time away from it I can handle!
